Our Health Tip:
A warm footbath before going to bed – if desired, with the addition of some salt or St. John’s Wort oil with a little bit of cream or a half bottle of beer – leads to a restful and relaxing sleep.
Cardiac Insufficiency – The Old Unknown
In the September issue of the American Dietetic Association, a study on the estimated size of a normal meal was published by Rutgers University in New Jersey. The results were compared with data collected 20 years before. They showed that today larger meals than those of 20 years ago are classified as “normal.” For example, the typical amount of orange juice is 40% more today; a normal portion of corn flakes is 20% larger and 30% more milk is used on cereal than 20 years ago.
Interesting conclusions resulted from a study at the University of Goettingen. According to the Lower-Saxony scientists, more and more people are admitted to the hospital for respiratory distress and decreased performance. If it is a case of cardiac insufficiency, initial suspicions are often not confirmed by a decreased pumping action of the heart. Instead, in many cases, the heart is not elastic enough to fill with blood during the phase of relaxation between heartbeats. Nevertheless, only 20% of primary care physicians questioned, correctly estimated the frequency of this fatal disease. The results of the SHAPE study also indicate that the large majority of German primary care physicians (88%) “often” or “always” diagnose cardiac insufficiency based solely on symptoms and complaints, for instance, shortness of breath. Objective standard tests such as echocardiography are used far too seldom.
Our commentary:
In our clinic we have had experience with the holistic treatment of patients with heart problems for many years. These include cardiac insufficiency. Do you know the physical signs of this disease? Shortness of breath, easily fatigued, swollen legs, sleep problems, but also increased fatigue, increased irritability, dry coughing and lack of concentration can indicate a weak heart.
Often these symptoms are attributed to the “normal aging process” and thus not given enough attention. However, these symptoms should be cause for alarm, particularly in young people in the middle of their working day. They are often attributed to stress at work or in the family, that is, a state of exhaustion or burn- out.
Such initial heart problems are overlooked all too easily, problems that particularly in their initial stages can be treated very well with natural medicine. On the other hand, the risk of inadequate treatment is great, as demonstrated by the SHAPE study.
Another study shows that more than 10 million Europeans have cardiac insufficiency without the typical symptoms, but merely increased tiredness, irritability or problems concentrating.
We have been able to confirm these results in many examinations at our clinic. The lack of elasticity during the phase of relaxation (diastolic dysfunction) is much more often the cause for decreased performance than an actual weakness of the heart muscle. And: As of yet, there is no standard treatment for this “diastolic dysfunction” in conventional medicine. But particularly in these situations of cardiac insufficiency without symptoms or still in its initial phase, as well as with the so-called diastolic dysfunction, we have been able to help many patients with our special concept of nutrition and our “gentle” treatment methods.
The basis for an effective treatment is a holistic cardiac diagnosis. Here we have put together an optimal package for you, for early recognition and as the basis for an individualized treatment.
Patients with the following complaints should have an annual holistic heart check-up without fail: cardiovascular disease, previous heart attack, diabetes, overweight and high blood pressure. Do you suffer from any of these complaints or symptoms? Or have you recently noticed increased tiredness, irritability, slight coughing or problems concentrating? Then, a holistic heart check- up is indicated.
For this reason, we have again included a holistic heart-circulation-metabolism-check-up in our program, for the Fall season is an ideal time for a check-up. Because you are worth at least as much as your car …

By the way, did you know that the earth could easily feed 16 billion people if the percentage of animal product consumption were limited to only 5% of the daily calorie intake?
