Our Health Tip:
A helpful tip for flu or also when you feel “you are coming down with something”:
Drink a hot grog or a hot tea for colds, with, for example, rosemary, marjoram and thyme, with some honey.
Prepare a hot footbath and add ½ liter of this tea to it. Soak your feet in it for 15 minutes. Afterward, dry feet and massage well with a salve for cough or a homeopathic salve for inflammation, such as Traumeel. Then put on warm socks and go to bed.
People with varicose veins, phlebitis or other vein problems should be cautious and consult their doctors beforehand.

Several interesting studies were recently published confirming the correlation between psyche and illness. We briefly present several of them here:
Mental Illness increasing dramatically in children
Alarming numbers were announced at a conference of the Association of Child and Youth Psychotherapists, as reported in an article on welt-online on March 2, 2007.
According to a study conducted by the Robert Koch Institute, 18% of all preschool children already have an obvious behavioral disturbance.
In 1990, circa 1500 children in Germany were being treated with Ritalin for ADHS (attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome). In 2002, it was already 50,000 and presently there are 350,000 diagnosed cases of ADHS.
The association believes that in the present time, many parents no longer have enough knowledge to master the tasks connected with parenthood. They said that after passing the bill to reform the health system, it should be the task of politicians to turn their attention to the psychosocial situation of children and youth.
Our commentary:
In the HG Naturklinik Michelrieth, we have also experienced that ADHS and the prescribing of Ritalin has extremely increased during recent years. However, it is suspected that Ritalin causes definite behavioral disturbances and impairs cerebral function during adulthood, and the list of Ritalin’s possible side effects is very long. The use of Ritalin does produce a certain effect, but now, as previously, there is no proven neurobiological concept for ADHS itself, not to mention the use of Ritalin.
We hear over and over again from some parents that they can’t deal with their children’s behavioral disturbances and therefore go to their pediatrician, to the school psychologist or to a psychiatrist specializing in children and youth. Very often they prescribe Ritalin, which the parents then starting administering, in order to better deal with the situation – even though they may have an uneasy feeling at first. So far, we can confirm the statements of the psychotherapists.
However, according to our experience, it is not solely the lack of knowledge that makes people unable to master their tasks of parenthood. It is the lack of the positive experience that is inherent in a meaningful life. Aren’t children also a mirror? For parents, for society? The children can’t concentrate on what’s important. They are much too easily diverted by external stimulations. They have no goal that is worth the effort of striving for. Their surroundings and fellowmen aren’t so important. It is important to not only acquire knowledge, but also to make experiences so as to be a living example for the children: experiences, in that parents, yes, so-called adults, again call to mind the positive, ethical and moral values in their lives, stand up for these and work for them – for goals that matter.
Politics can’t help here, for mostly politics no longer has any values worth living and working for. And it doesn’t offer any solutions. Shouldn’t politics, that is, the politicians, instead focus on being a role model? And become credible?
Another point in treating children is that they again have more contact with nature, yes, that they really experience nature. Playing in nature, going on hikes, making observations, and much more. Genuinely playing in nature and not in the virtual space of a computer, play station, X-box or Nintendo.
In addition, a change of diet is usually necessary, because strongly altered products, fast foods, sweets and also food intolerances can considerably contribute to the symptoms of ADHS.
Heavy metals can also be a factor, as well as residues from infections or inoculations, and micronutrient deficiencies that should be individually supplemented.
Our experience shows that a combination of the above-mentioned measures almost always leads to success, in particular when the symptoms haven’t become ingrained after years.
In any case, it is worth a try, because usually Ritlalin can be avoided or completely stopped; the improvement is lasting and without side effects, also in later years.

Example of an actual case:
A 7-year old girl, in second grade, often dreamy, very sensitive, the “dreamy princess.” Her teacher said she suspected ADHS.
The girl showed definite indications of food intolerances, to dairy products and wheat, among others. The EDS-testing, a kind of electro acupuncture, indicated residues of infections and inoculations.
The micronutrient analysis showed a clear lack of zinc, Vitamin B1, B6 and B12, as well as Vitamin D and folic acid. The test for heavy metals showed the presence of mercury and aluminum.
The micronutrients were supplemented and a change of diet was started. Herbal medications were used to stabilize the nervous system along with physiotherapy treatments and cranio-sacral treatments. A stay in the clinic was also recommended.
Our psychiatrist for children and youth cared for the girl, and the parents were also included.
Already after a relatively short period of time, 3 to 4 weeks, the first signs of success were apparent. The child became more concentrated and more attentive to her environment. After six months, she could follow her class lessons well and actively participate in them. Ritalin was not needed at any time. More than a year has now passed, and she is one of the best pupils in her class.
More facts on the climate change:
Needed to produce 300 kilograms beef:
- 14,600 liters of water
- 3,500 kg. soy and grain
By products:
- 3 million liters CO2 from the burning of 2,500 liters of fuel for growing the feed
- 200,000 liters methane from the digestive tracts (as a greenhouse gas, methane is 20 times more harmful as CO2)
- 14.6 tons of solid and liquid manure
Thereby, the cow or steer is allowed to live for just 2 years before being slaughtered. There are 1.4 billion beef cattle on earth. Their live weight is 3 times that of all of mankind’s.
